What is the difference between IoT and industrial IoT?

As these connections become increasingly complex, they will require the use of communication technology in order to function properly.

IIoT technology is a valuable asset to businesses, as it assists them in improving productivity and developing predictive upkeep programs. It uses smart sensors to monitor equipment and its performance in real-time. This information is then gathered into a central database where managers can access and analyze it. Similarly, industrial IoT solutions help companies reduce their energy consumption and maximize their efficiency. They can also help employees forecast failures and improve their productivity.

While IoT devices are more flexible and can be used in a variety of settings, IIoT devices are designed for use in a critical infrastructure, which means they must be more reliable and durable. This is important because IIoT devices will be used to monitor a wide range of devices, and they must function reliably for extended periods of time. In addition to security and reliability, IIoT systems must be able to communicate with each other and be interoperable.

IIoT technology can simplify building management and make buildings safer. For example, sensor-driven climate control can eliminate guesswork and allow buildings to respond quickly to threats. Similarly, IIoT devices can be used to improve healthcare. For instance, IIoT devices could monitor the condition of patients so that doctors can react accordingly. Artificial intelligence (AI) may even be able to take over the diagnosis of patients.
